I have been interested in photography for nearly 40 years when I got hooked by the medium and purchased the revolutionary Olympus OM1. During the 70s I got involved with Greenock Camera Club, and learned to print my own black & white images. In 1980 we moved to Newbury in Berkshire and in my spare time I started specialising in black & white landscape photography. I became a member of Newbury Camera Club, and added to my equipment by buying an OM2 with some more lenses. To improve my printing technique I bought a beautiful secondhand Leica enlarger and built my first darkroom in the garage. Between 1984 and 1986 I undertook a number of photographic assignments included press work, editorial, advertising, art, portraiture etc. for local businesses, publishers and magazines. My main speciality was black and white landscape photography which I printed to my own high standards. To help me tackle more professional jobs, I purchased an OM4 and a Mamiya M645 medium format camera. During the 80s I was fortunate to have an "Exhibition of Photography" at the Enterprise Art Gallery in Newbury, followed by an exhibition for Childline, and a group exhibition in London. I also became an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society. We moved back to Scotland in 2001. My photography has now moved to the digital age, with an Olympus E-410 and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ65 which I take everywhere. With my work related to the world of Charles Rennie Mackintosh I am fortunate to have access to some amazing buildings.
