About me

I am a Scottish photographer based in Glasgow - largely self-taught although I did a short professional course. I began with Kodachrome in my teens, then learned to work in monochrome in a darkroom. For around 15 years I worked as a freelance photographer and writer, especially for photographic magazines. All my cameras are now digital although photography has become mainly a hobby as I diversified into academia. I currently make short movies in connection with my work around learning in later life.
I use an IPhone4S, Canon Legria HD camcorder with a still-frame facility, a Panasonic Lumix, and when I am really serious, an Olympus E3 with 12-60mm zoom lens. The signature photo on this page is a favourite stamping ground - Loch Lomond, looking north to the Highlands.
